This is dependent on company policy. If you are currently employed, and your test is non-negative, and has been confirmed, the result is normally forwarded to a Medical Review Officer. The doctor will contact you to verify that the non-negative result is legitimate from legally prescribed medicine, or not.

It depends on the company's procedures and the reason you are having one done.

If it is for employment, you will receive a call if you passed and they are willing to hire you, but probably not if you passed and they are looking at other candidates. Although, typically, you will not be sent for a drug test unless chances are good for employment, as they cost the employer money.

In cases of probation it is more likely you will know if you fail, because you will be hauled in for violating probation and have to appear before a judge for sentencing.
