Not unless there is a path to ground.

Another Answer

In order for current to pass between two points, those two points need to be at different potentials. If you were hanging from a 400-kV line conductor, then the whole of your body will be at the same potential and, therefore, no current would pass through your body. The situation would completely change if you were able to make contact either with another of the line conductors (unlikely, unless you have very long arms!), or with a line conductor and an earthed component such as the tower that supports the line itself!

Having said that, your body might be subject to the various effects of electrical stress (e.g. corona discharge) caused by the electric field at that level of voltage, so it would be a good idea if you avoided getting into that sort of situation!

If you are not touching or your body is not in contact with a grounded object when you touch a "hot" wire, you will not get a shock as there is no complete path for the current to flow. It is like an open switch. If you touch both the neutral and the "hot" wire you will receive a nasty shock. This is because you are completing the circuit through your body from the "hot" to the neutral wire. In this case your body is acting like a switch.

In theory, no. However if the voltage is high enough then it can travel through your body and ark to something, us that as a ground, and electrocute you.

No, the only time you might feel a jolt from a telephone line is if the line is ringing in and you touch the ring pair of wires.

Is plastic used to cover electrical wires?

so it could prevent shocking you .They use that because if u get shocked the electric can travel through your body and it could harm u if u get shocked a lot. Also if u get shocked and you can hurt other people and shock them to so that is why they use plastic coating on the electric cords.

Why we feel an electric shock when we touch an electric circuit and not when we touch the terminals of a battery?

Most household batteries don't provide enough voltage difference for you to feel. For example, holding a "C" cell battery with a finger on each terminal is only 1.5 volts, and your skin provides enough resistance so that no current will flow through your body. If you moisten your finger and touch both terminals of a 9-volt battery, you may feel a little tingle in your finger. DO NOT touch the terminals of a 12-volt car battery; you could be injured or killed. At the very least, it would knock you on your butt.

If an electric circuit is not grounded it is best to reach out and touch it to provide the ground?

No. Touching a live electric current is never a good idea.

What are the safety hazards of electronic circuits?

there are several ways of safety hazards in electronic circuits those are those are - 1- capacitors are dangerous if they charged discharge it before handling. 2- the high voltages are present somewhere in electronic circuits like EHT on television mind these. 3> static charge of body can damage cmos ics don't touch them from naked hand. 4> ground all equipments before using them it will prevent from electric shock.

Why you get electric shock when current flows opposite direction in a conductor?

When current flows in a conductor you do not get an electric shock provided you do not touch the conductor.

If you pull a plug out of a socket that's on can you get an electric shock?

You will only be shocked if you touch the prongs while they are still in the socket or if there is a defect in the cord or plug. If you be sure to touch only the plastic part you should be fine.

Can a radio give you an electric shock?

If your radio plugs into the wall outlet for power, then there are points inside it that would shock you if you were to touch them.

How do you get electric shock?

Electricity tends to travel towards the ground. when we touch an electrical substance, our body acts as a conductor and the current passes through our body to the ground. this is how we get an electric shock.

What happens if your hands are wet when you touch a charged object?

What will happen if you touch a person while the AED is delivering a shock?

The person touching the victim will also receive an electric shock (not as powerful as the victim but a shock none the less).

Can you get an electrical shock if you touch a wire covered in plastic?

No, the covering on the wire is insulation. This insulation is used to isolate the wire from any grounding medium, this includes a person. It is not a good idea to go around touching wires as there may be a nick in the insulation. If the nick goes all the way through to the conductor, and you touch that specific spot and you are grounded you will get a shock as you become part of the conductor.

When you have recovered the person from the electric shock is it safe to touch them?

As long as the person who received the electric shock is NOT connected to the electric supply that caused the incident and you are not in a situation where you are at rise of injurty by the electric or any other situation then you can contune to provide first response help.

What causes you to get an electric shock when you touch when you touch a metal door?

That would be a static discharge. Usually around 40000 to 80000 volts at pico amperes.
