Not necessarily. In high school you need good enough grades to be accepted to a decent college - your local four-year college or a state university work just as well as a private university or one of the more prestigious institutions. This generally means an A/B average throughout high school.

Once in undergraduate college, however, you'll need to focus on having good grades (more A's than B's, very few C's) while completing a rather difficult series of pre-requisite courses before applying to vet school. A GPA of 3.5 or better is recommended. Once in vet school, though, C equals DVM - you don't need A's through vet school to become a veterinarian, although it helps to have a high GPA if you want to complete an internship or residency after vet school.

You just need to graduate from high school. Then average about a 3.5 or better GPA in college with a major in the biological sciences. Do well on your GRE exam and apply to vet school. NOT EASY

Does having a GED privents you from becoming a vet?

Getting your GED in lieu of a diploma from a high school that you attended for four years does not prevent you from doing or becoming anything that you would like to be. All you have to do is provide your scores in place of transcripts to whatever college you decide to attend. You will not be penalized for having a GED instead of a High School Diploma.
