No, they are not acceptable tankmates. Guppies are tropical fish and require higher temperatures than are likely to be comfortable for a goldfish. In addition, the goldfish will eventually grow large enough to swallow the guppies.

Yes guppies and goldfish live peacefully together. The goldfish will try to eat any guppy babies they encounter, but, once the baby guppies are big enough, no problems.

No it is not; guppies are very sensitive and cannot stand as much acid as the goldfish give off; a day or so after you put that guppy in the tank it will die so don't waste your money - buy another tank!

If the fish are the same size they will probably get along, but goldfish are more aggressive so watch carefully.

Goldfish don't "give off" acid. All fish eliminate waste and consume dissolve oxygen which can increase the acidity of water levels in a poorly filtrated or immature bio system. Goldfish produce significant amounts of waste, but are tolerant of the increased water chemistry. Other fish may not be. Guppies tend to be resilient to temperature changes, as are most Danio (zebra fish) varieties, but not necessarily the increased ammonia, nitrite, or Ph levels that build up.

Goldfish can for the most part live happily alongside tropical fish, but the reverse is not true. You have to set your tank up for the most sensitive fish you will keep... the most important considerations being providing a stable temperature and Ph.

You can, but it's not a good idea.

Guppies are tropical fish, doing best in temperatures in the mid-70's. They can survive for a while in cooler temperatures, but will usually get sick and die.

Goldfish are cold-water fish, preferring temperatures from 45-65. They can live in warmer water, but that can cause several problems, including disease and death.

Will 2 Guppy's be eaten by a goldfish?

The goldfish should never be in the same tank as guppies. Goldfish are coldwater fish and need to be kept below 70F. Guppies are tropical fish and need to be kept above 70F.

Fancy guppies and goldfish share the tank?

Yes they can, I have a guppy (amongst other fish) with 4 goldfish together and they are very happily living together :)

Can you combine a guppy with a goldfish?

No. Generally, fish cannot breed across different species. Also, guppies cannot tolerate water temperature changes that goldfish can, so they would not last long in the same tank.

Can keep goldfish and other fish in same tank?

Rule of thumb is to not mix tropical fish and goldfish.

What fish can be kept in the same tank as catfish?

Why your goldfish bites your guppy fish?

Guppies (Lebistes reticulatus) are small tropical fish and they do not belong with Goldfish (Carassius auratus) which are a large coldwater fish. Goldfish are also omnivourous so it is natural for them to eat other fish small enough to swallow. The guppy falls into that category. My advice is to do some homework (study/research) and keep them in separate containers in the conditions they have evolved to thrive in. Guppys need a 1.5 to 2gal tank with a tropical temp around 70F. Goldfish should be preferably in a pond but a minimum sized tank for 1 fish is a10Gal with no heater required.

What kind of fish is compatible with a Male Guppy?

Can you have a fish tank with 18 neon tetras and 2 large goldfish?

No, Neon Tetras and Goldfish do not belong in the same tank. Goldfish prefer cold water, while Tetras are more of a tropical fish.

Must guppies be in an all-guppy tank for it to mate or can it mate in a community tank?

How does a goldfish grow as a size of a foot when in seawater and still the same size when in a bowl?

Goldfish release growth-inhibiting hormones into the water they live in: the more goldfish in a smaller space, the less likely they are to grow. For instance, if I have a common goldfish in a 5 gallon tank, it will grow to about the same size if I had 6 of the same fish in a 30 gallon tank. But leave that fish alone in a 30 gallon tank, and it will grow larger. This is why pond goldfish grow bigger. But goldfish won't grow at all in seawater; they aren't saltwater fish.
