I'm not quite sure to be honest, but the transcendentalist movement was much like the hippie movement of the 1960's. They had the same basic principles, as well as ideas on how to make connect humanity with nature. So based on this knowledge, i am willing to assume that if not all, many of the transcendentalists and communal inhibitor's of the mid 19th century did smoke pot.

Transcendentalists believe that religion and politics essentially corrupted the individual, it was a movement created in response to intellectualism. There are many that would still agree with transendentalism.
