Can you join a fraternity without going to college?

Fraternities are generally groups that college students join, so you would have to go to college to join them. There are some fraternal organizations that are associated with professions, so you would not have to be a college student, but you would have to be working in the profession to join them.

What is fraternity and sorority?

Strictly speaking, a fraternity is a "brotherhood." In the United States, on colleges campuses, fraternities are organizations that young men join, in which they live together in a house close to campus - acceptance of a newcomer into a fraternity is frequently dependent on successful completion of "initiation rites," also known as "hazing." Unfortunately, this frequently involves the consumption of massive amounts of alcohol, in fact, one reads about a young man dying of alcohol poisoning at a school almost every year.

Can Jehovah's Witnesses join sororities?

JW youths do everything in their power to guard their spirituality, and their morality. They are required by Jehovah God to remain 'chaste' till marriage. So we ask ourselves the following: Is sorority life conducive to remaining a virgin? Would Jesus join a sorority or fraternity? Then we make our decision with our spirituality and morality in-mind. We often hear statements like the following, from those who are in sororities: From a sorority girl of 17: 'There isn't a girl in our sorority who's a virgin.' . . . A fraternity boy, 16 1/2: 'I joined the fraternity to have a place to bring a girl. The fraternity rents a little basement apartment near the school, and let me tell you, it's a real rape shack.'" We work hard to heed the counsel of Christ Jesus in John 15:19: "you are no longer part of the world." (New Living Translation) Yes, we live 'IN' the world, but we don't become a 'part' of it. We avoid the things that are considered acceptable by others.

How do you joined in fraternity?

When the time period called "rush" happens you go to the fraternity to find out what they are about. Many are associated with subject matter majors. For instance I belong to an education sorority for people who are in education majors. I was asked to join, so fraternities also ask people.

What fraternity is Obama a honorary member?

Because she is female, she would not belong to a fraternity-- those tend to be all male. It's a "sorority" that female students would join. But interestingly, she does have some involvement with a fraternity-- as an adviser. Michelle Obama is a member, and thus a brother, of the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity, Inc; she served as an adviser to their rechartering effort at the University of Chicago in 1996.

Is there a fraternity or sorority at berklee college of music?

As of now there are no music greeks at Berklee. There used to be a chapter of Phi Beta very briefly around 2005ish (?), but it was disbanded after only a year or 2. Over the years students at Berklee who have wanted to join a music fraternity or sorority have joined the local chapters of music fraternities such as Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Sigma Alpha Iota at local music conservatories such as The Boston Conservatory. It would be great if Berklee had a thriving music greek scene! Question is...is it possible?
