Firstly there is no such thing as floating higher; something either floats or it doesn't. Buoyancy (pronounced boy-an-see) on the other hand, describes the ability or tendency of an object to float in a liquid.

Objects float in a liquid when they are less dense than the liquid. For example an ice cube will float in both water and corn syrup because it is less dense than both. The ice cube will have greater buoyancy in corn syrup because corn syrup is more dense than water.

Why do objects float higher in salt water?

Because salt is more heavy, I mean try mixing oil syrup and water, they won't mix because oil will go to the top which means that it is the lightist, then water would go in the middle because it is th second lightist, then syrup would go at the bottom because it is the heaviest. You could also try putting eggs in regular water and it won't float, but if you put salt in the water and mix it, the egg will maybe float if it doesn't then add more salt.

Does maple syrup dissolve in water?

Maple syrup contains certain covalent substances thereby causing it to not dissolve in water, which is a polar substance.

How do objects float higher in salt water?

Objects float higher in salt water due the density caused by the salt, the more salt present in the water the higher the object will float.

Can a wooden dowel float in salt water?

on top. Wood is less dense than water to the point that it float on top of water, and salt water is more dense and has a higher surface tension than pure water so the wood would, if possible, float higher.

Why do thing float higher in salt water the?

Due to high density of sea water things float higher in sea water.

Which would float on water corn oil glycerine corn syrup wood rubber ice?

In order to float on water, the object would have to have a density of less than 1g/mL, which is stated 1gram per milliliter, not over milliliter.

Do objects float the same in salt water and fresh water?

How would the high salinity of great salt lake effect the way objects float in it?

Give a higher density to the water due to the salt content which causes object to float higher.

Would a cell placed in syrup probably gain or lose water?

A cell placed in syrup will shrink due to water loss. Since a syrup is hypertonic to a cell the water inside will diffuse out toward the higher solute concentration.
