There are advantages and disadvantages for both, so it's a matter of which you think you'd rather work with: women or kids.
12+ years.
You can become a OBGYN and specilaize in maternal/fetal medicine.
It would depend on whether or not they were private or not. Private would more then likely make more then government subsidized.
It takes a little bit longer to become an OBGYN than a pediatrician because you are taking care of pregnant women and you are looking for genetic diseases that can be treated before the child leaves the womb rather than to wait for the child to be born and have the child suffer or possibly die until you can figure out what they are suffering from.
I think it is better to have a female obgyn because they can understand women better. You can read more at http://stanford.wellsphere.com/women-s-health-article/gender-and-the-nbsp-ob-gyn/713905
For what? I would take the child to a pediatrician and get a referral if the doctor thought it necessary. If you mean as far as a career is concerned, pediatricians do more good, psychiatrists probably make more money.
The high-end of the Pediatrician salary would be in the neighborhood of $225,000+, this would be in the field of Neonatologist. the average earnings would for a general Pediatrician is $100,000 to $140,000.
A pediatrician is a doctor for younger children. Same qualifications as a doctor but a better understanding of child health issues.
