A 2004 PT Cruiser experiencing bogging down and jerking during the shift from first to second gear could be due to several factors. Common issues include a malfunctioning transmission, low transmission fluid, or a faulty throttle position sensor. Additionally, problems with the engine, such as a clogged fuel filter or ignition system issues, could also cause poor acceleration and shifting behavior. Diagnosing the issue may require a thorough inspection of both the transmission and engine components.
