Do something unexpected and fun! Maybe find a theme that all the guests can dress up for. You could have a retro, pirate, Star Wars, or celebrity theme. You have scary music you have it at a haunted house or outside at night or in your bacement you decorate real scary and what ever you do you have to jump out at people and buy those fake eyeballs and have a bowl of red coolaid or red punch to look like blood and put the eyeballs in it

Well first invite people about 25-45 (depends on how big our house is)

decorations: can be like pumkins, skelitons, streamers (in black,white, and orange)scary stuff but not to scary.

Food:Punch,chips,pigs in a blanket, cupcakes,cookies, salad, chickenand other foods depending on what you like.

Music:Pop top ten songs, 95.3, or your favorite songs.

And I think that is it....Oh wait! And get a totally cool costume.And invite Guys Too!!!(cute guys)

You have to obviously get decorations which can all be find off-line or on-line by typing Halloween decorations, then you have to have some scary looking food so anything that can have food colourings added to it, add. For example red and green food colouring work the best. You can get fake blood sachets and capsules and put them underneath your clothes or blood capsules in your mouth for some blood curdling fun. You always need lots of toy bats, mice, Spiders and fake cobwebs for effect. You can get the real thing for that authentic feel but I doubt this will go down well with most people. After all it is supposed to be fun and not dangerous. You will need beer if you are old enough to drink of course, this will enable the party to feel more authentic because as people become drunk they don't really care what they or the house they are in looks like and it emphasises the fear factor a little. Last but not least, if everyone turns up in suits and evening gowns, then this will be like turning up to a funeral in a clown suit. So, you need some good costumes, scary witches, strange ghouls, but it doesn't have to be scary. If you like and because sometimes there are not enough costume parties to go around, for those that enjoy to dress-up, you can come in another type of costume. The costumes don't have to be purchased on-line or off-line and can be hand made by yourself with a little effort. Why go to all that trouble when you can find a good selection of all the mainstream costumes and outfits on-line. Remember to order early so as to get your costume on the big party day, 1 week to two weeks before should be enough but earlier is better because for costumers Halloween is the time when stocks disappear rapidly. This is maybe the reason why people don't come in scary costumes because they don't find any so use an alternative.

I may also be having a Halloween party, so i know what to have. if its for kids: younger ages you could have games that have to do with Halloween, food, signs, and music. (vampires, Frankenstein, etc and a pinata. for older ages kids: music, not so baby Halloween music, creepy curtains, fake gravestones, smoke machines, and have everyone dress up in costumes. Halloween themed food, snacks, and i dunno what else..... adult party: sorry, cant answer that one. sorry if this wasn't any help.
