It is not possible to feel implantation the day after sex. You might feel something... that would be ovulation. You cannot conceive a child after ovulation is complete (about a 24 hour process) Implantation CAN occur as early as FIVE DAYS AFTER ovulation. Most often, implantation occurs between 5-12 days after ovulation. You may or may not feel ovulation or implantation. You may or may not have some spotting with either. Implantation spotting doesn't mean that's when implantation happened... sometimes the sloughed off uterine lining, from where the egg implanted on the surface of the uterus, makes its way out and that is implantation spotting. To give a timeline: ~The first day of menstrual bleeding is Cycle Day 1 (CD1.) Most woman have 28 day cycles (or several days more or less) so their fertile period would most likely occur around CD14. Watery, slippery, clear mucus indicates high fertility. Accompanied with that, women often find that their sex drive drastically increases during this fertile time... as a natural instinct to reproduce. ~Having sex up to 7 days before ovulation (Cycle Days 8-14 for the standard cycling woman) can result in pregnancy. That's the possible "shelf life" of sperm... who are waiting in the fallopian tubes when the egg is released (ovulation) if you've had intercourse during that time. Once a sperm fights his way into the egg <--- that is fertilization. After the sperm has fought his way inside the egg, the egg closes itself to all other sperm. ~Now, the fertilized egg must makes its way down the fallopian tube and into the uterus, which can take from 5-12 days. Some fertilized eggs fail to implant themselves into the uterine wall/lining and women don't know, since their periods begin on time... or perhaps just a bit later than usual. ~Once implantation is complete, a woman's body produces much more progesterone. The HCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone also increases with each day and once the level reaches 25+, depending on the sensitivity of the pregnancy test you use, you'll test positive for a pregnancy... several days after implantation. Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your period. So, if you get a positive pregnancy test on the day your period is due to arrive but hasn't, you're already about 4 weeks pregnant. Pregnancy lasts 40 weeks from the first day of your last period - or 38 weeks from the date you ovulated (typically, 2 weeks after the first day of your period.)
