Please try the rest of the pennies in your pocket change.
NO American cent will stick to a magnet except the steel ones minted in 1943. All the rest are either bronze (up to mid-1982) or zinc (mid-1982 to the present) and neither of those materials are attracted to a magnet.
For the same reason no other US cents stick to a magnet, except those dated 1943 - all other cents up to mi-1982 were made of bronze, which isn't a magnetic material. You DID try some other dates first . . . ?
wont hurt the laminate, might insulate the magnet..
no it wont because copper is not a type of magnet even though it is a metal
You can pull the cord from the magnet to make it weaker so it wont pick up as many items you think it will
coz if you try to attract a weak and a weak side it wont stick. same with the strong and strong side. But if you put a strong side next to a weak side it will attach. When a strong magnet is brought nearby the domains line up more closely with the magnetic field. The result of this reorientation is an overall magnetization of the weaker magnet.

they are supposed to be a mix of pure metals, such as nickel, zinc, copper and silver.but i have state quarters that do stick to magnets.
There are many types of metals you get ferrous and non ferrous metals. A magnet will stick to ferrous metals such as iron and steel but wont stick to non ferrous metals like copper or alluminium.
Keep it or sell it to a coin collector. These are not rare coins so you wont get much for it.

most definitely a magnet the size of a penny has broken my mp3 i got for xmas it wont turn on now. Actually I disagree, I got my hard drive magnet just now (much more powerful than a fridge magnet) and rubbed it all over my iRiver E100 and it still works. Did the same to my mobile, Nokia 5140i. --blueuser
This page is rubbish it wont tell me anything like what does a magnet have around it? It did not know!!!

Self cleaning oven . I found at times the micro switch's on the latch motor stick. they will be found on the back of the unit under the sheild.
No it wont but if the water is hot then it will lose its magnetism
Hold it next to a magnet always works.
No! there's no magnet attraction between glass and metal, I don't think the glass wont do anything.
