To adjust the handbrake on a 2012 Ford Fiesta, first, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and securely lifted. Locate the handbrake adjustment nut, which is typically found under the center console. Turn the nut clockwise to tighten the handbrake until it feels firm after a few clicks, but ensure it does not engage too tightly. Finally, test the handbrake by pulling it up to see if it holds the vehicle securely before reassembling any components.

i have also a knocking noise on my Fiesta st 2008 and have discovered that it is the handbrake cable underneath the car between the heat shield and body of under center of where your handbrake is.The heat shield will have to be removed as what happens normally the hand brake cable comes loose and rattles against the heat shield when accelerating & deceleration... really annoying!
You need to be more specific as to the model of Fiesta. The Mk 6 Fiesta's handbrake adjustment is accomplished by turning the nut on the threaded rod attached to the base of the handbrake lever. First pull off the handbrake lever shroud - just tug the back of it upwards to release the clips. the difficult part is working the shroud over the lever and off. It's a struggle - but it can be done. There may be an awkward star lock-washer on top of the adjusting nut. Use long-nose pliers to get this off and throw it away and replace it with a nylock nut. Slide a long 10mm socket or box spanner over the thread to tighten or slacken the adjusting nut. Earlier models will have different adjustment methods.
THE FORD GUY SAYS` remove leather gater from handbrake, you will see a 10mm nut, give it a few turns and try, and a few more and try again till its about 4/5 clicks, that's it good luck
To remove the brake cable from a Ford Fiesta, first, ensure the vehicle is safely secured and the handbrake is released. Locate the brake cable connection at the rear brake assembly and detach it from the lever or caliper. You may need to unclip or unscrew any retaining clips or fasteners. Finally, trace the cable back to the handbrake lever and disconnect it from there, ensuring to note any routing for reinstallation.
Inside the car unclip the rubber cover below the handbrake ratchet handle. You will notice an adjustment nut by the cable. Apply footbrake and release handbrake lever and then pull up for about 6 clicks. Adjust nut accordingly and test brakes. You should also notice that when applying the foot brake the brakes are more solid in feel.

The shuddering could be caused by several things. Check the front end parts on the Fiesta to start with. A loose or worn part is the most likely cause of the problem.
