To set things straight, the Mint never struck silver cents. For one thing, they'd be worth more than dimes! What you have is made of zinc-coated steel, so it will of course stick to a magnet. Second, "proof" has nothing to do with a coin's composition. It has to do with whether a coin was specially struck on highly-polished blanks and packaged for sale to collectors. There were no proof coins made during WWII so you couldn't have a proof 1943 penny in any case.

The Mint was forced to change the cent's composition in 1943 to free up copper for use in ammunition. Unfortunately the coins started to corrode within a couple of years. Unless yours is in pristine condition and has not been "reprocessed" (i.e. replated) it's only worth a quarter or so.

Can a magnetic bracelet stop working?

Kinda-sorta, but not really. While magnets can lose some of their power over time, particularly if heated or hit, there's no solid proof that a magnetic bracelet ever has worked. So if the magnets didn't do anything to start with, losing the magnets wouldn't change anything.

How could my 2004 D Iowa state quarter have a perfect shiny silver colored reeded rim with no copper like other quarters and it weighs slightly more 5-10 grams heavier?

It could be from a Silver Proof Set - in which case it is made of Silver.

How much does a solid gold dime weigh?

No such coin exists. Dimes were struck in silver prior to 1965 and 1965-present in copper-nickel, along with special silver proof sets dated 1992-present in 90% silver. The US mint has never released a gold dime.

How much does a 1971 silver dollar weigh?

No Eisenhower Dollars that were issued for circulation (1971-1978) contain silver. For 1971 the San Francisco Mint did strike proof collectors coins in 40% silver, the weight is 24.59 grams. The regular issue coins from the Denver & Philadelphia Mints weigh 22.68 grams.

How do you tell a silver clad quarter from solid silver?

Clad Quarters have copper, and silver color on the edge. 1965- Current are copper clad. Only on half dollars did they make 40% silver coins from 1965-1970. No circulating US coins were ever made of solid silver. They had 10% copper in them to make the metal hard enough to resist wear. 90% Silver Quarters are silver colored on the edge. Some may have toning. 90% Silver Dimes, Quarters, Half Dollars, and Dollars were minted until 1964. Some special current coins are silver, but are only in silver Proof Sets, and cost more than a regular Clad Set. Some Eisenhower Dollars from San Francisco have 40% silver content.

Why do you never see any 1973 British copper coins?

Look harder. In 1973, Britain minted - * Two New Penny (Proof FDC) * One New Penny (Proof FDC) * One New Penny for general circulation * Half New Penny (Proof FDC) * Half New Penny for general circulation

What was the silver content of an old British Penny?

Normally, zero. A basic unit of currency like the Penny, is made from a relatively cheap alloy like bronze or steel. The metal a coin is made from cannot be worth more than the value of the coin. A Penny made from silver would not last five minutes as everybody would be melting them down to recover the silver. The only British low denomination coins minted in silver are those belonging to the Maundy Sets or, the occasional Proof FDC coins which, when they are minted, are usually at 92.5% silver. Prior to 1795, the British Penny was a small silver coin of about 92.5% silver, but the silver content varied depending on the economic conditions of the time.

Should you buy a silver proof set or a proof set?

It depends on your preference. A silver proof set contains coins made of 90% silver, while a regular proof set does not. Silver proof sets tend to have a higher intrinsic value due to the silver content, but they may also come at a higher cost compared to regular proof sets.
