Inspect the shift cable that runs under the drivers floor mat. If the cable sheathing cracks moisture gets in and cause problems.
Some times mine get's stuck in park, what i do for mine is rock the steering gentley from side to side.If it gets stuck on a hill, then have someone sit it while another person rocks the whole car front to back.
well if your s-10 is stuck in park there is a good chance the transmission is bad in it.

Wiggle the key as you turn the key while in the ignition switch. My 1994 gets stuck about once a month.
Put your key in the ignition put foot on brake and gently turn the key and the steering wheel. It is probably stuck because your wheels are turned.
