What is the last movie you watched?

Noah Baumbach's WHILE WE'RE YOUNG. It was wonderful. Funny, intelligent, with wonderful performances (Adam Driver is always inspiring) and a great look into the differences in generations and the longing we have in our culture for youth. It reminded me a lot of this quote from Andrew Soloman, "As you ripen, you'll notice that time is the weirdest thing in the world, that these surprises are relentless, and that getting older is not a stroll but an ambush." This is exactly where his main characters find themselves. It was so sadly and beautifully human. Go see it!

How do you relax in your downtime from acting?

I like to dress up like Mary Poppins and sing showtunes. No. Part of that is true though. I'll leave it for you to decide which part. I write a lot. I have a thirst for knowledge. I felt I didn't take school too seriously, so I think I'm now trying to make up for it. I'm always trying to learn more. About anything and everything.

Do you have any tips for actors or actresses with the dream of making it in the acting industry?

Don't strive for what anyone else idea of "making it" is. Thats a relative term and is different for everyone. Enjoy the ride. It's a marathon not a sprint. Enjoy the small victories of getting a call back, rehearsing a scene and feeling like you got it that time. If you only enjoy it when you book a job, this will be a very miserable journey. Work hard, don't give up. You have to believe in you. If you can leave an audition, happy with what you did, that's the greatest victory of all.

How did you originally score your break in the acting industry?

I think the word "break" in regards to this career is odd. Seen as one very specific moment wherein you are suddenly known by people. It often relates to fame more than anything else. In that regard, I would say it hasn't happened for me yet. But it doesn't matter if it never does. To me, it's about doing things you are passionate about. Challenging yourself as an artist. It's not fame or fortune, it's fortitude. To keep working hard and believing in yourself and doing whatever makes you happy. Otherwise, what's the point in any of it? I feel very lucky to get to do what I love. That's enough for me.

You've starred in both television series and films...which do you prefer and why?

Well, I come from the theater world. So TV and Films are very different. But in a great way. I think most actors just want to work with great material and great people. I feel lucky to have had a couple of opportunities and that have been the case. Who knows what will be next, but it's very exciting to see such nuanced and original ideas being developed right now. Especially in TV.

You've also been working on the film "April Flowers" set to release this year. What was it about "April Flowers" that made you want to be a part of it?

Chris Tedrick, the writer-director, is an old friend of mine. We did a reading of an early draft of the movie back in 2011, and I fell in love with the beautiful and touching story he had written. I am so proud that he has not given up and is putting his work out there, making things happen. I would have done Kraft service for the movie if Chris had asked. I think we should all support people who are making their own work and telling original stories.

What message does "The Messengers" send about hope?

I think what the heart of the show speaks to is that though we all may be looking at the world through a different lens, that does not have to be something that disconnects us, but something that can make us stronger. At a certain point, it's time to put aside our differences and work together to make the world better. I believe it's possible. That's what the show explores. That's what hope it speaks too.

"The Messengers" is directed by Stephen Williams, who was also the director of "Lost". What is it like to work under the direction of Stephen Williams?

INCREDIBLE! Stephen is amazing. He is everything you want in a director. The perfect balance. He trusts his actors and knows how to get the best performance out of everyone. He cares and is very passionate about what he does. He is the guy you wanna work with again and again. We all felt very lucky to have the opportunity to work with him.

Can you describe the relationship between the five messengers; Vera, Erin, Peter, Raul and Joshua Jr.? How does being a messenger change each of their lives?

The relationship between the five messengers will evolve dramatically. They are strangers in the beginning, but suddenly given a common thread that connects them and which none of them understand. It very much reflected the cast. The 5 of us were strangers and when we meet on camera, for the most part, it was our first time working together. The relationships developed on camera as they did off and that was a lot of fun. It's a little like being away at camp. I imagine. I'm from England and we don't have summer camps. Well, if we do, I was deprived.

There are four other messengers that work with your character Joshua Jr. to save humankind. What is it like to film with your fellow co-stars Sofia Black-D'Elia, JD Pardo, Joel Courtney, and Shantel VanSanten?

I couldn't ask to work with a better group of, not just actors but people. From the very beginning we talked about having no egos on set and being able to be open with each other and try things out. That was amazing and a breath of fresh air. They are a very talented group and inspire and challenge me to be better every day. What more could you ask for?

Do you believe in the idea that "nothing is random and nothing is a coincidence"? Does Joshua Jr.?

Joshua, I would say, believes in this. I think this idea is something all the characters with have to come to terms with throughout the season as they are drawn together.

Diogo Morgado plays the devilish character known as "The Man". What relationship do the Messengers have with the Man?

SPOILER ALERT. HE IS MY FATHER. No, not really. I can't answer that without giving too much away. It's a good vs. evil game and let's just say it will get interesting.

A lot of "The Messengers" plot is similar to the apocalypse story mentioned in the Bible. How much of "The Messengers" is about religion?

The show's foundation is the Book of Revelation, and I would say the show is driven by faith, but it's more about faith in each other. Faith in humanity. The characters all have different backgrounds and different belief systems and are forced to work together. To listen to each other's differences rather than ignore them. Something I feel we could all learn to be a little better at.

You star in the CW's new sci-fi thriller "The Messengers". In the show, a giant meteor hits the earth causing your character to die...and then come back to life. Turns out, he is brought back from the dead to save humanity as an "angel of the apocalypse". Why do you think your character, Joshua Jr., was chosen to live?

HI. Cheers so much for having me. Hmm... I'm not sure there is a specific reason I could say as to why he is chosen. What's great about the show is that the 5 characters we follow are very flawed, very human. They aren't special. They have problems, messed up personal lives just like the rest of us and these gifts and this mission is just added on top. It's this that I feel keeps the show grounded and rooted in a relatable reality.
