You may be offered a job that you cannot pass up even though you do not yet have a college degree. When these things happen, you need to take a break from school so that you can give your current situation the attention that it needs. However, you do not want this to be the end of your college career. You should plan on coming back in the future.

When you are going to UW colleges online, you are allowed to take a break if you would like. It is very simple. You just need to refrain from signing up for classes the following semester. You will not be charged per semester, but per class. If there are no classes linked to your student profile, you will not have to pay anything. You can just take some time to yourself and then come back when you are ready to pursue your education once again.

You should note that you cannot quit in the middle of your classes when you are attending UW colleges online. If you leave without completing a class that you have already started, you will fail that class. This will go down on your official transcript. You cannot come back in a few months and expect to start that class at the exact same point. Instead, you will need to start all over again.

If you must leave and you do not want to fail, it would be wise to talk to your advisor to see what options you have. For example, you may still be able to drop your classes if it is early enough in the semester. You will not get credit for the work that you have done so far, but you will not fail either.
