If you aren’t in the mood for one of those, there are Irish pubs, coffee houses and Patio Bars that will entice you. If you want something during the evening hours, there are many lounge bars and dance clubs that will entertain you as well as offer you dining and drink specials. There is something for everyone here, whether you are on a family vacation or a romantic get-away for two.

Knoxville, TN was founded in 1786 and is the third largest city in the state of Tennessee. A number of quarries in Knoxville, TN in the early 20th century supplied Tennessee pink marble to much of the U.S., therefore giving Knoxville’s nickname of The Marble City. Also in the 1930’s there were no fewer than 20 textile and clothing mills operating within the city therefore giving the city its old nickname as the Underwear Capital of the World. Knoxville, TN is also the home of the University of Tennessee campus.

One place to visit in Knoxville, TN is Market Square. It has recently been redone and offers many fresh shops, cafes, restaurants, a park, fountain and pubs. Market Place is also within ideal walking distance from the old city.

The Ijams Nature Centure is also a perfect place to visit when in Knoxville, TN. It is a perfect place for kids and has over 80 acres of woods, meadows and trails.

This upbeat yet laidback city is perfect for any type of getaway.
