for mowers, yes you can and should in temps under 40 degrees, above 40 deg it will work but the machine may burn it off quicker than strait 30w, for cars follow manufacturer recommendations
10w40 is thicker (but only when hot, they are the same thickness cold.)
yes YES any oil is better than no oil
Yes.
5w30 or 10w30
5w30 or 10w30
The boiling point of 10w30 oil varies depending on the brand. The average boiling point seems to be somewhere between 200 degrees and 300 degrees. The manufacturer provides details on the information panel.
It depends entirely on the condition of your engine. If the bearings are in good condition, use a lighter weight oil (lower numbers). If the bearings are getting a little worn, use a thicker weight oil (HIGHER numbers). Watch the oil pressure gauge. If, after the engine warms, the oil pressure starts to drop to near zero during idle, use a thicker oil. If the oil pressure stays up when the engine is warm and idling, you might be able to use a lighter grade oil. As related to the brand, use whatever has been running in the engine in the past, so long as it's a respected brand with the SAE certifications.
5w20, 5w30, 10w30, 15w40 etc. It will depend on what the manufacturer recommends. It all depends on the engine, manufacturer's recommendations, type of fuel it uses (gasoline, diesel),climate conditions, etc. Too many variables.
for 4.0l/ 4.7l H.O. use 10w30 for 4.7l use either 10w30 or 5w30 but 5w30 is preferred
10w30
Should u use 10w30 or 10w40 in the winter
If the recommended oil is SAE30 why would you use SAE 10W30? Some mowers recommend either of these weights but if your recommends 30W then using 10W30 will cause it to use oil.
It can vary between 30W and 10W30. L-heads use 30W, OHVs often use 10W30.
10w30
10w30 will work just fine in the 2.4L engine.
I use castrol synthetic 10w30 or royal purple 10w30 that is only if u want to spen $10 a quart for royal purple but any synthetic oil 10w30 will work only use synthetic
10w30
5w30 or 10w30
The 3.5L needs 10W30. All other engines use 5W20.The 3.5L needs 10W30. All other engines use 5W20.
Most manufactures recommend SAE 10W30 or 30W. I recommend you use 10W30 Synthetic in any air cooled small engine.
