Bulbs go in from the rear. Take the light assy off.
Open the rear tailgate. On the side of the tail light your will see two star/phillips head screws. Just remove these to screws and the taillight will come out. Then replace the necessary bulb.
Your problem may be with any or all of these three items: The fuse, brake switch or bulbs in the brake lights.
Check the light for condensation. There could be a short that has cause the light to malfunction. If so, the entire light unit will have to be replaced.

It your unfamiliar with basic brake work purchase a shop repair manual for that vehicle. It will save you time and money.

The 2001 Chevy Blazer brake lights may not work and the third bake stays on because the current light needs to be replaced. A replacement brake light can be purchased at an Auto Parts store like Pep Boys.
