The knob you pull out is attached to the switch. To get the switch out, you will have to remove the panel underneath the dash, and some of the HVAC ductwork that runs underneath. Disconnect the battery. On the back of the switch, under the dash, there will be a little button you will have to push in to get the switch's shaft & knob to release from the switch. After that is done, you will be able to pull off the trim going around the face of the dash. It should just snap on. Then there will be a nut holding the switch to the dash. Remove the nut, the switch will come out the back, and then you can unplug it. Replace in reverse of these directions, only leave the swith shaft/knob for last. It will just push back into the new switch.
First, I'm guessing you are referring to the ignition lock cylinder w/key. The ignition switch is plugged into the back of the cylinder lock. I just removed the cylinder lock from a '92, so this should be the same. Pull the steering wheel with adapter legs (KD3510) so you can access the release through the hole just below & to the right of the shaft (about 4 o'clock). The bottom plastic cover around the steering column needs to come off too. Put the key in & turn to position II, so that the release will depress. I used a small pick. Also, remove both the ignition switch & the cable behind the cylinder. To remove the ignition switch, back out the two set screws & pull off. Gently pry out the cylinder lock by twisting the blade of a screwdriver between the casting & the switch.
Pull type switch? At the side of the switch behind dash area there should be a silver button. Depress this button while pulling on knob - entire shaft should pull out of switch Unscrew front bezel and switch shoud be able to be removed from under dash area Ford suggests replacing harness also
You can remove your 1997 Pontiac Bonneville ignition switch by removing the retaining ring at the top of the ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out.

To remove old door weather stripping on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, just pull it up and off the track. If it needs a little nudge, heat it with a hair dryer and then pull up using a putty knife.
found this, might be the same, Merry Christmas, anyways! :) For a 1988 Mercury Marquis remove bottom shroud from steering column (5 Philips head screws). There is a wire running from the ignition switch to the left side of the steering column; detach it from the coupler (This can be done without a tool). Turn key to ON position until the panel lights come on. There is a small pin near the bottom of the key lock; push it in and pull the ignition switch out (don't panic if the wire seems to be stuck; it will come out). To replace, turn new ignition switch to same position. Push pin on the ignition switch in while sliding it back into the steering column. Reconnect wire and then replace shroud.
You will need to remove the retaining ring at the top of your 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan ignition switch. Slide the ignition switch out and remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
it is located on the steering column
The ignition switch in a 2004 Pontiac grand am can be installed by first Sliding out old lock cylinder and then Press the small release tab While turning the key to the ON Position.
the ign switch or the key & tumbler ???
first remove the dash trim around the switch. the trim should just pull off. its held in by push clips. next remove the screw that holds the switch, push in on switch a little then wiggle it out. remove the electrical connection from back of switch, then pull switch out. to install is reverse of removal.

The 1994 Pontiac Grand Am ignition lock cylinder is held in place by the retaining ring at the top of the cylinder. Remove the retaining ring. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the cylinder.
I don't know how to change the ignition switch but I have some advice. Don't screw with the ignition switch, buy the whole steering column. It will be cheaper and easier to change.
Replacing a steering column ignition switch on a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix is not considered a major repair. The task is considered easy but if done wrong could be dangerous. It is best to refer to vehicle manual for the car to ensure proper direction is given.
The switch is on the steering column about 18 inches from the floor under the dash. There are 2 screws that hold it on.
Pontiac Grand ams dont have an inertia switch, actually no GM cars that i know of have them.
