When mine would go, the engine would all of sudden stop running. Like if you were trying to compression start a standard engine. Only it happen to me when I was doing 80 kph. The it would start again. For some people, once it occurred the engine will never start. Ford did eventually put out a recall on them but that was a long time ago. The I went to have things repaired had told me that there is no real indication when they will fail. In fact, they had installed a new sensor into a truck and the next day the sensor failed. So until it fails just keep driving it.
Generally you test the voltage across the two leads while the key is in the on position with the engine not running. The best thing to do is purchase a Hayne's or Chiltons manual and follow the instructions for you particular vehicle.
If the cam position sensor goes bad certain vehicles may not start (some require a signal from this sensor before they will). If it does start it will run rough especially at low revs. Most ecu's will give you an error code if the cam position sensor goes bad. They can be tested with an oscillating volt meter ( oscilliscope ) by checking the signal wire and ground while someone else cranks the starter. Many times these sensors are working fine but need to be cleaned to give a proper signal.
your vehicle will shut down when driving. it will start again off the key it will do this at idle , any speed and with no warning
car will not start
Yes, but not usually. If the computer is telling you that you have a bad crank position sensor, it could also be a connector or damaged wire. Don't be too literal.
The sensor is bad. A properly-functioning knock sensor allows the ECM to advance timing until it senses a knock. It then retards timing until the knock just barely goes away allowing for optimal gas mileage.
Yes it can. The crankshaft position sensor is one of the major sensors for spark timing.
Engine makes noise, performance drops, fuel mileage drops,
A bad sensor can cause the vehicle to shift at the wrong time or not at all.
what happens if the transaxle range sensor goes bad?
When a position sensor is going bad the engine could run rough, or cut off for no apparent reason. Or, the engine may not start at all.
car will not start up
When Throttle Position sensor is bad when you step on pedal and it does not move, engine light is on!
When the oxygen sensor goes bad, the check engine light goes on.
It breaks.
If the sensor is erratic, then the engine could shake or sometimes not run. If the sensor is completely bad, then the car wont start at all.
Nothing...........there is none.
The check engine light will illuminate. The code(s) will direct you to the faulty sensor.
When an oxygen sensor goes bad a car will burn gas at a higher than normal rate because it will not be producing as much power as before. The oxygen sensor checks the amount of exhaust.
When an O2 sensor is bad your car will not run efficiently. You will use more gas than you would normally use on a trip.
AN engine that will not run correctly if at all.
