Start with the basics, check your fuel filters first . Remove the fuel line from where it comes into the filter (It will be marked In and be located on the bottom of the filter) then have someone look and see when you crank the engine whether or not fuel is coming through the line. If there is no fuel it is a good sighn your pump is bad and needs replacement. However if you have fuel coming through the line replace your gas line on the INside of your filter and test the out going line on the top of the filter or OUT side. If the fuel is not coming out when you crank the engine or is but at a lower / slower rate replace your filter. If your filters are in good working order and your pump is delivering fuel to the lines yet still wont start it could be a senser problem. If it is, you should be getting a check engine light. If this is the case try to get it into a service station and hook into there computer to get the error code. Last thing, if your car was spudering or stalling prior to your starting problem and all of the above is in good order it may be that your pump though working is not delevering enough presure to the lines. I hope this helps a little good luck.

Michael.

This isn't enough information. What does it do? Will the starter crank? Is it getting fuel? Does your Glow Plug Relay work? Do enough of your glow plugs work? Sometimes, you can use Starting Fluid, which comes in an aerosol can and is available at auto parts stores. Spray it into the air induction hose (the one that goes from the air cleaner to the radiator support) while someone is cranking the engine. Don't use too much, or you might damage your valves. Just use one half-second burst. If your glow plug light on the dash doesn't come on, then your relay is faulty. You can fix that by opening the relay and filing the contact points inside (unless it's too far gone). You can test the glow plugs by removing them one at a time. Take a pair of jumper cables and connect them to your battery. Clip the negative cable to the base of the plug (with the wide threads) and the positive to the attachment point (with the thin threads). If the glow plug heats up, then pull and check another one. If it doesn't get hot, then replace it. To check for a fuel problem, look in the inline fuel filter. Is it full? If not, make sure the fuel tank is full. Check for kinks in the fuel line leading from the engine compartment to the tank (it runs along the left side).

A 1997 Mercedes Benz E320 that turns over but won't start may not be getting enough fuel or may have no spark. Connecting the vehicle to an OBDII code reader will help diagnose the problem.
