This is usually caused by a faulty passlock sensor requiring replacement of the ignition lock cylinder. To test:
Crank the engine momentarily (like you're trying to start it) then allow the key to return to the on/run position. Your check engine light should be on, and the radio should work, but turn the radio off if it's on, because you need to keep the battery charged.
Wait fifteen to seventeen minutes, then shut the key off and remove it. Then wait fifteen seconds (or longer) and start the engine. If it starts, you need a new lock cylinder. With the engine still running, press the key straight in. If the car stalls, you need an ignition switch also.
Security lights flashing on a car that won't start indicate that the system has partially disabled the vehicle. The security system must be reset to allow the vehicle to be driven.

First turn the key to the run position, but do not start. Push the gas pedal down to the floor 3 times within five seconds. Turn the key off and then cycle back on and start the truck. The indicator should flash five times and go out. This may take a few tries, they can be stubborn

It a stupid security feature... All you have to do is to keep the key in the on position after trying to start the car. You will See a security light flash for exactly 10 mins, then turn it all the way off and it will start. Your car no longer recognizes the key.
