There are so many people who were and are famous. I'll start with some of the dead ones.

General Oliver Otis Howard - Civil War general, who among many other things, had Howard University named for him. Buried in Burlington.

Brevet-Major-General William Wells - Civil War general who was the most promoted Vermonter during the Civil War. Medal of Honor recipient for "conspicuous and gallant bravery" at Gettysburg. Buried in Burlington.

Ethan Allen - Rogue who lead the Green Mountain Boys. Buried in Burlington.

President Chester Arthur

President Calvin Coolidge

General Stannard - Civil War general who out-flanked Pickett's Charge and crushed the enemy. Buried in Burlington.

This is a pretty good start. Please join me in listing other people!
