∙ 12y agoIn Emerald Mirage tower will collaspe and the fossil you didn't take (in this case the claw fossil) will fall into the dust and vanish. BUT that's not the end, Beat the Pokemon league and go to the fosill maniac's house and he will have dug further after you go through the hole inside his house. get to the end and you will find the other fossil.
TIPS AND HINTS:
1. Make sure you bring an escape rope to get outta there easy.
2. You only find wild dittos in there and NO TRAINERS!!!!!!
3. It's A long journey through that cave.
4. make sure you bring lost of reples! (First get a ditto then put on the repels)

However, you must first defeat the Elite Four.
Once they have been vanquished, go to the digger's house. It's the first house on Route 114 (The same place you got the TM Dig from.)
Go through the hole to the place where the crazy guy was digging, there should be a doorway. Enter it and run all the way down the underpass (it's a rather long jog) and at the very end, you will find either the claw fossil or the root fossil (Whichever one you didn't choose at Mirage Tower). Simply pick it up and be on your way

∙ 12y agoYou cannot get the Root Fossil in HeartGold, only in SoulSilver. In SoulSilver you can find the Root Fossil by using Rock Smash on the rocks in Cliff Cave.
