The sewing machine greatly assisted our economy and affects our daily lives. The clothes we wear today were produced by a type of sewing machine. The sewing machine made making fabric easier and faster than having it hand made. If the sewing machine were not invented, we would not be wearing nice or sufficient clothes.

The sewing machine was brought up during the Industrial Revolution.

They invented sewing machines for fasten the production of work and cloth. at first they worked at their homes (Domestic System) but then they worked at factories and then they made mills because they needed to pay the workers and water was cheaper.

They also made machines but some were destroyed by workers because they thought they would let them out of work.

Here are some machines: The Spinning Jenny, The Flying Shuttle, The Mule and The Water Frame.

Elias Howe did not invent the first sewing machine. Indeed, his was not even the first working sewing machine. But, it was arguably a revolutionary one that changed the face of mechanical sewing as we know it.

Howe was granted US Patent 4750 for his sewing machine utilizing a lock stitch mechanism. While his was not the first, he had pursued the idea initially because he saw what was lacking in earlier designs.

Three major features of his machine are still common in more modern setups: the automatic feed, the thread eye at the point of the needle, and the shuttle operating beneath the material to perform the lock stitch.
