You're probably confused by hearing that Pluto isn't a planet. Pluto is still exactly what it always was... a tiny chunk of icy rock considerably smaller than the Moon. Pluto is large enough to be in hydrostatic equilibrium, which makes it a "dwarf planet". It's actually one of the larger dwarf planets.

It's certainly possible to quibble with the technical details of the IAU's definition of "planet", but any reasonable definition puts Mercury firmly on the "planet" side of the line and Pluto firmly on the "not-planet" side of the line.
