There is a chemical reaction taking place at the core of sun. Its called 'Nuclear Fusion'. In this two hydrogen atom get fused together and form a Helium molecule with excreting a lot of energy in form of light and heat. rest of it one more reaction also take place, carbon get react with hydrogen and form nitrogen molecule....with energy liberation......thnx....

The sun is a star, and it is a nuclear fusion machine. Nuclear fusion is the source of the energy the sun radiates. It is making hydrogen into helium, and has been for roughly 6,000 years.

How do you get enough light if were not the closest planet to the sun?

The Earth is not the closest planet to the sun and it is generally agreed it gets enough light. Neptune however gets a negligible amount of light from the sun, which at Neptune's distance just looks like a bright star.
