If the combustion of propane isn't getting enough oxygen it is incomplete and it would be a smokey yellow flame. For humans we depend on chemical potential energy from plants and animals. Propane combustion and cellular respiration are different because propane combustion depends on oxygen to fuel it and humans depend on chemical potential energy to fuel themselves.

In what ways is fermentation similar to cellular respiration?

Fermentation and cellular respiration are similar in that they both involve the breakdown of molecules to produce energy for cells. However, fermentation does not require oxygen, while cellular respiration does. Both processes also produce waste products, such as lactic acid in fermentation and carbon dioxide in cellular respiration.

How are cellular respiration and anaerobic respiration similar?

Both cellular respiration and anaerobic respiration are processes that involve the breakdown of glucose to produce energy in the form of ATP. They both occur in the cytoplasm of cells. However, anaerobic respiration does not require oxygen, while cellular respiration requires oxygen and occurs in the mitochondria.

How are fermentation and cellular respiration similar?

Both fermentation and cellular respiration are metabolic processes that involve breaking down glucose to generate energy in the form of ATP. They both occur in the cytoplasm of cells and involve a series of chemical reactions to produce ATP. However, cellular respiration is more efficient in producing ATP compared to fermentation.

How is cellular respiration and fermentation similar?

They both are similar in releasing energy. In cellular respiration food is broken down to cell level and a lot of energy is produced and similarly in fermentation it is described that it is the process of getting energy from oxidation of organic compounds.

How are breathing and cellular respiration similar?

Both breathing and cellular respiration involve the exchange of gases, with oxygen being taken in and carbon dioxide being given off. Breathing supplies the oxygen needed for cellular respiration, which is the process by which cells break down glucose to produce energy in the form of ATP.

What is the process called that most living things obtain energy through that is similar to a combustion reaction?

The process is called cellular respiration. It involves the breaking down of glucose molecules in the presence of oxygen to produce energy in the form of ATP, similar to how combustion reactions release energy.

What process is similar in cellular respiration and fermentation?

Glycolysis in the cytoplasm

What are the similarities between this equation for burning glucose and the equation for cellular respiration of gluclose when oxygen is available?

Both respiration and combustion utilize oxygen and a fuel source to produce energy, carbon dioxide and water. In the case of combustion, it is a hydrocarbon that serves as fuel and during respiration it is glucose.

How are fermentation and cellular similar?

Both fermentation and cellular respiration release energy from glucose and other food molecules, making them similar in their processes.

How are cellular respiration in cells and combustion alike?

They are both redox reactions involving reacting oxygen with a fuel (glucose), generating energy in the process. If you are familiar with the chemical definition of a combustion reaction, it can be seen that the overall equation of cellular respiration is exactly the same as the chemical reaction for burning glucose in air. However, even though the overall equation is the same, the actual process of cellular respiration is much more controlled than regular combustion (otherwise we'd all be burning inside our cells).

How is cellular respiration similar to chemical reaction of burning food?

Cellular respiration and the chemical reaction of burning food both involve breaking down molecules to release energy in the form of ATP. Both processes use oxygen and produce carbon dioxide, water, and energy. However, cellular respiration is a controlled process that occurs within living cells, while burning food is an uncontrolled combustion reaction that releases energy rapidly.
