In mathematics? This is what's called a relation.

For example, the relation y=4x shows that for any given x value, the value of y is four times as great.

If y is equal to 8 and the relationship between y and x can be shown by the relation y is equal to four times x, x must equal 8 divided by four. Eight divided by four is 2, therefore x is equal to 2.

If x is equal to 6 and the relation ship between y and x can be shown by the relation y is equal to four times x, y must equal 6 multiplied by four. Six multiplied by four is 24, therefor y is equal to 24.

A scatter chart.

A correlation is an incorrect answer from a wishful thinker or someone who naively believes that the only relationship that can be studied must be linear!

Suppose you have x and y related by the equation x2 + y2 = 1 (a unit circle centred at the origin), I hope you would accept that there is a strong relationship between x and y. But the correlation? It is 0! Similar results can be observed when y is any even function of x, and is symmetric over the domain.

How does correlation help scientists?

The principal advantage over casual comparative or experimental designs is that they enable researchers to analyze the relationships among a large number of variables in a single study. Another advantage of correlational designs is that they provide information concerning the degree of the relationship between the variables being studied. Correlational research designs are used for two major purposes: (1) to explore casual relationship between variables and (2) to predict scores on one variable from research participants' scores on other variables.

What is the study of nutrients and how they are used by the body?

The study of nutrients in meals, way the body uses them, and the relationship between diet, health, and disease is known as nutrition. Nutritionists study the way foods affect the human body using concepts from molecular biology, biochemistry, and genetics.

What does garph mean in science lab?

"Garph" does not have any specific meaning in the context of a science lab. It may be a misspelling or a typographical error. If the correct term is meant to be "graph," it typically refers to a visual representation of data or a relationship between variables.

Independent and dependent are types of what?

Independent and dependent are types of variables. These variables are used mostly in science and math. When using independent variables you can control them dependent variables you cannot.

What is a relational hypothesis?

A relational hypothesis is a statement that predicts the relationship between two or more variables in a research study. It proposes how changes in one variable are expected to influence changes in another variable. It is used to test and analyze the associations between variables in a study.

How does Regression Analysis Help a manager in the decision making process?

Is used to study the relationship between or among variables, for example, the relationship of household income to product sales. It can be used to determine how increases in household income affect sales volume. If management wants to study the relationship between sales, and income, interest rates, and education, they would use Multiple Regression Analysis, Correlation Analysis refers to the study of how strong or accurate a relationship is, as well as such technical factors as measurement fit, deviation, and error. It often is used by companies to study demand, pricing, supply and cost curves.
