Diffusion is the process of molecules moving from high concentration to low concentration in a material. This will occur eventually through random movement and in simple diffusion is specifically without the aid of an intermediary such as integral membrane protein.

Simple diffusion means the movement of one substance from its' higher concentration to the lower. For example in a gas leak, the gas moves from its' point of origin (high concentration) away into the air (lower concentration). Another example would be adding sugar to tea. The sugar will move from the area where there is more sugar to where there is less sugar. In this case, equilibrium will be reached. It will take longer if it just sits for awhile.

Are osmotically active substances simple diffusion or active transport?

simple diffusion.

Is simple diffusion the net diffusion of a solvent?

no

What are the 3 types of diffusion?

simple diffusion, osmosis and facilitated diffusion.

How does faciliated diffusion differ from simple diffusion?

Facilitated diffusion needs some sort of help. Often it would be a protein. Simple diffusion doesn't. If you spill something smelly on the floor in the kitchen, you will smell it all through the house. It will spread by simple diffusion.

How does gases enter and leave capillaries?

Simple diffusion.

What are the limitation of simple diffusion using the amoeba as an example?

Simple diffusion really says it for itself. Mostly simple molecules and substances can pass through. Water, O2 or CO2, or other small simple molecules are the limited spectrum of simple diffusion.

What happens in simple diffusion?

In simple diffusion, a substance passes through a membrane without any outside intermediary. The rate of diffusion is based on the force exerted..

What are the examples of simple diffusion?

Osmosis is one of the easiest-to-understand examples of diffusion. Past that, you will need to define 'simple'.

How does facilitated diffusion from simple diffusion?

It doesn't. (answer by RRU member Cyrem)

What is diffusion simple?

Simple diffusion is the net movement of substances from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration so its overall net movement is along the concentration gradient. Simple diffusion does not require energy therefore it is 'passive', substances are diffused across the membrane between the phospholipids.

What kind of molecules can move across the membrane For simple diffusion?

Passive transport is dependent on the permeability of the cell membrane, which, in turn, is dependent on the organization and characteristics of the membrane lipids and proteins. The four main kinds of passive transport are diffusion, facilitated diffusion, filtration and osmosis.Simple diffusion is the unassisted passage of small, hydrophobic, nonpolar molecules.

What are the types of diffusions?

In Biology there are three types of diffusion. There are simple, channel, and facilitated diffusion.
