Respiration can happen without sunlight, but photosynthesis cannot.
Oxygen is created via the process of photosynthesis. Without sunlight, photosynthesis cannot occur on anything beyond stored energy, resulting in a large decrease in oxygen production.Ê
photosynthesis stops at night
There is less light so less photosynthesis occurs. Oxygen is a by-product of photosynthesis. I don't know how much detail you want about photosynthesis..... but basically, the plant takes in carbon dioxide and water. In a process known as "photolysis", it breaks down the water into electrons, H+ ions and oxygen. The oxygen is released through the stomata in the bottom of the leaf, while the electrons are used to reduce a molecule called NADP and make another molecule called ATP. The reduced NADP and ATP are then used in the "calvin cycle" to make complex organic molecules such as glucose from the carbon dioxide.
During the day, carbon dioxide and water are photosynthesized into various sugars, but this process requires light. The sugars are unstable in the presence of certain enzymes, and dehydrate with the addition of oxygen, producing CO2. This is an exothermic reaction that gives the plant energy; in fact, it's technically a combustion reaction.
Because there is no sunlight, which is a main component that plants need in order to complete internal processes.
photosynthesis stops at night -APEX
Yes, plants produce oxygen and need carbon dioxide and sunlight to produce food.
The Process of Photosynthesis that plant use to produce energy food is responsible for a lot of oxygen being freed into the atmosphere.
Leaves do most of the oxygen producing. As long as the plant still has other leaves to process photosynthesis with, plucking one leaf won't do too much harm.
Carbon dioxide (and water) is used by plants during photosynthesis to make sugars (and oxygen), which may either be consumed in respiration or used as the raw material to produce other organic compounds needed for plant growth and development.
in the day, the plant will give out oxygen and take in carbon dioxide, but at night they take in oxygen and gives out carbon dioxide :)
Oxygen and glucose
Respiration can happen without sunlight, but photosynthesis cannot.
No, gerbera daisy and aloe also produce O2 at night
Mother-in-law's Tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata)
Plants need light to produce oxygen so if there is no light no oxygen is made.
it doesn't it takes in the carbon dioxide and then turns that into the oxygen ============== Actually, at night plants consume oxygen, but only a small fraction, compared to the amount they produce during the day.
glucose and oxygen
Oxygen. Because the plants need sunlight to produce it.
because they have sprinkelers to water them
Yes, houseplants give off carbon dioxide during darkness and when dormant. Houseplants, and any green plant, absorb carbon di-oxide (Co2) and produce oxygen in the process of photosynthesis. During the day they absorb more then they produce and produce oxygen but during the night they give off carbon dioxide. Some people believe this is why all flowers are removed from bed sides in hospitals during the night. This is of course ridiculous. People in the hospital produce more CO2 than plants could possible produce. Also if this were true we would have to wear oxygen masks at night since no photosynthesis happens after dark.
it take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide
During sunlight hours, plants produce oxygen as a gas and energy in the form of ATP. Animals use oxygen that the plant produces to form ATP it needs for energy. The animals produce carbon dioxide gas which the plant uses.
