Most gulls, particularly Larus species, are ground nesting carnivores, which will take live food or scavenge opportunistically. The live food often includes crabs and small fish. I can personally vouch for the fact they will also eat french fries including taking them right out of your hands :)
Seagulls will eat just about anything, from fish to small rodents. You can feed them french fries and pieces of bread, and they know how to break open clams and other shellfish to get to the good parts.

Anything! They will eat garbage, fish, shell fish, basically any organic matter that they can fit in their beaks.
