K+ and HCO3- ions form if it is just dissolved in water

but there are actually three ions K+, H+ and CO3 2-

You can say there are four, since H+ and CO3 2- form HCO3- or even five if you count in KCO3-

Under normal circumstances, I would say the answer: K+, H+ and CO3 2- is fine.

The formula, KHCO3, is potassium hydrogen carbonate (the older name is potassium bicarbonate). All potassium salts are soluble so there is no need to refer to solubility rules or tables.

The ions formed are: K+, HCO3-

- potassium ion, hydrogen carbonate ion (bicarbonate ion) The bicarbonate ion could be forced to dissociate if it was in a basic solution rather than water.

The hydrogen ion, H+, would not dissociate from the carbonate ion, CO32-

Theoretically there are three ions: K+, H+, CO32-

The dissolution or dissociation equation can be written: KHCO3(s) -->K+(aq) + HCO3-(aq)
