A substance can take on three physical states: Solid, liquid, or gas. The main physical changes from a thermodynamic standpoint are the amount of entropy(disorder) of the molecules of the substance. Density, temperature, volume are also characteristically different at each physical state and can be used to manipulate compounds between the three.
By definition a physical change is something that does not change a substance into a different substance (and by different I mean a different chemical structure). This does not mean that a physical change cannot cause a chemical change, which by definition is something that does change a substance into a different substance. For example, increasing the temperature of a substance is a physical change, but if you increase the temperature past a certain point, a substance like wood might combust with oxygen and turn into a mixture of different substances (water, elemental carbon, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc.).
you see a physical change is not like a chemical change which is when something is made to something new physical change on the other hand is when something minor changes like its color like it doesnt change into something new
how can you not know this i mean im in sixth grade
lol hahaha
Size or shape, or whether it is a solid, liquid or gas.
They result in properties different from those of the original substances
A chemical reaction (change) results in a change in chemical properties.
yes chemical properties do change a substance physical properties just change the physical shape or look!!!
physical properties
Temperature and amount of the substance do not change chemical properties.
no
Well, one of a substance's properties is whether it's a liquid or a gas or a solid. This is a physical property. If you mean chemical property, then no, it doesn't change with a change of phase.
A chemical reaction (change) results in a change in chemical properties.
The chemical properties of an object show what a chemical change did to that substance.
yes chemical properties do change a substance physical properties just change the physical shape or look!!!
Physical properties can be observed without changing the chemical composition of a substance. Chemical properties can only be observed by changing the chemical composition of the substance. In a physical change, the chemical composition of the substance does not change. In a chemical change, the chemical composition of the substance changes.
During a physical change, the matter of what the substance is made out of doesn't change.
Yes
physical properties
Temperature and amount of the substance do not change chemical properties.
when a substance undergoes a chemical change the original form cannot be recognized and it could get total new properties.
The chemical properties of an object show what a chemical change did to that substance.
A chemical change is when the chemical properties of a substance changes and a physical change is when the chemical properties stay the same but the physical properties (shape, temperature etc...)
physical changes do not change the chemical properties of a substance
