Remember for ALL carbonates the general equation is

Acid +Carbonate = Salt + water + Carbon Dioxide.

So

Hydrochloric ACID + Zinc CARBONATE = Zinc Chloride(SALT) + WATER + CARBON DIOXIDE

Symbolically

2HCl(aq) + ZnCO3(s) = ZnCl2(aq) + H2O(l) + CO2(g)

NB If you inspect the the reaction equation you will find on BOTH sides of the reaction (reactants and products) :-

Hydrogen(H) x 2

Chlorine(Cl) x 2

Zinc)Zn) x 1

Carbon(C) x 1

Oxygen(O) x 3 ( As 3 & 1 + 2)

It OBEYS the Law of Conservation of Mass. Nothing is lost or gained (as if by magic), from other sources.
