Large amounts of liquid are heated in a boiler or a vat. A boiler heats water to produce steam for heating buildings. A vat is used in a factory to heat large amounts of liquid for many different purposes.

It really depends on what you're asking, and what you want to do, what, and how much you are heating. 50 gallons, 500 gallons, 5000 gallons, or perhaps merely wanting to heat up the ocean.
You would use a crucible to heat a solid to a high temperature. Crucibles can be made of metal or ceramic and you would use one made of a material that would sustain the high temperature without damage.
That depends on what the substance is, how hot I want it to get, and what equipment I have available.
The fact that you said "equipment" implies to me that you're in a lab. Some options:
Water bath
Steam bath
Heat lamp
Hot plate
Heating mantle
Alcohol lamp
Gas Burner (probably Bunsen, Tirrill, or Meker-Fisher, depending mainly on which I see first, though I might bother to specifically seek out a Meker-Fisher or an oxy-acetylene hand torch for some things)
Kjeldahl rack
Drying oven
Muffle furnace
beaker, alcohol lamp, Bunsen burner, test tube, flask
iron stand,iron clamp, wire gauzes
crucible
test tube
convection is the transfer of heat in a liquid or gas by thermal energy from one part of a fluid to another. ;0)
Heat is when molocuels vibrate or when two things rub against each other and create friction, which makes heat. The way heat travels... Conduction: Heat that travels through a liquid or gas Radiation: Heat that travels through as waves Convection: Heat that moves through a solid Hope I helped... :)
Liquid would get changed into gas form at this fixed temperature, called as Boiling point of the liquid. The heat thus given will be known as Latent Heat.
The liquid to gas phase transformation (evaporation) is an endothermic process. It requires heat to be accomplished. The gas to liquid phase transformation (condensation) is an exothermic process. The vapor releases heat while condensing into a liquid.
When a substance changes from a liquid to a solid it releases energy. (You take the heat out)

A coil of conductive metal to run the water through (copper) a pump, and a heat source.
Metamorphic rock is created from large amounts of heat and pressure.
Remove heat. Large computers often use large amounts of electricity and thus disapate large amounts of heat. Gotta get rid of that heat.
Remove enough heat from the liquid, it changes to a solid- known as freezing.
