the mirror in the book speak represents how in the end she becomes honest with her self and although when you look in the mirror and it seems you have changed on the outside it doesnt mean you have. Mirror represents similarities with past and honesty.

In the first marking period of the book the main character in the book speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda Sordino, does everything she can to not look in a mirror so that she cannot see herself. Melinda avoids, covers and hides them so that she cant look at herself. At the end of the book she is able to use a mirror to defend herself against the person that caused all of her pain, Andy Evans, by putting it to his throat when he tries to rape her again in the closet at the end of the book. Melinda is able to stand up for herself and defend herself from the attacker.
