Fables are tales that are usually completely fictitious, that end with a moral or object lesson.
Myths are religious tales that either have a basis in fact (as in there probably was a city of Troy and a Perseus) or represent an allegory for some natural event (such as the tale of Apollo and Daphne, which represents the morning dew fleeing from the suns warmth).
