On the basis of working principle computer are classified in to three types Ana log computer, Digital computer, and hybrid computer. Ana log computer measures continuous type of data and uses a physicalquantity like electric current, voltage, temperature, etc. to present and process the data. It represent numbers by a physical quantity; that is, they assign numeric values by physically measuring some actual property, such as the length of an object, an angle created by two lines, or the amount of voltage passing through a point in an electric circuit. The computer which accepts discrete data as per the electric signals is known as digital computer. Basically , digital computers counts digits, which represent numbers or letters. The computers based on binary digits i.e. 0 and 1 are called digitals computer. It represents each and every information in terms of single numbers and processes the information by using standard arithmetic operations. Hybrid computer is the combination of the feature of Ana log and Digital computers.

Digital Computers

These Computer Process data that is in discret form or digital in nature, ie "1" and "0". These computer can not process any other data. So for any data to be processed by these Computers, it must either be in digital or must first be converted into digital for for processing. Examples include all modern computers include the hand held devise like Mobile phones, calculators etc

Analog Computers

These computers process data that is continuous or analog in nature, Thee process data by measuring the amount of change that occurs in quantities like speed, temperature and pressure. Analog computers are usually special purpose machine dedicated to a single task. Analog computers are used in places like weather stations to record and process physical quantities such as wind, cloud speed temperatures, etc.

Hybrid Computers

These type of computers are designed to process both analog and digital data. Any example of a hybrid computer is the integrated computer used at the Space Launch system when sending Astronauts in the space for scientific research and exploration. This computer measures the temperature, wind speed the humidity of the space and the translated these quantities into digital form for analysis and processing.
