How would your life be different if computers did not exist?

Life would be harder, because computers make our lives better. But still, there are bad effects for us. Computers often make us lazy.

Life would be very much like it was in 1960. Somehow the human race survived 1.5 million years without computers, and it has made it 50 years with them.

Some ways things would be different:

• We would have cars (but they would not have computer controlled fuel injection).
• We would have television (but not satellite TV, DVD, 7.1 sound, Dolby, etc.).
• We would have movies with characters and plots and stories, and Peter Jackson would be making documentaries.
• Hundreds of thousands of people would have rather dull jobs calculating paychecks, billing for services, accounting, and other tasks that are often done by a single person with a computer today.
• I.T. managers making quarter-million-dollar salaries would have to work for a living.
• Students would have to read their textbooks and do their homework by hand.
• You would use your phone more if you wanted to talk to people and not wait 2 to 5 days to get actual mail.
• Letters and essays would be typed on typewriters, where typos are corrected by reading and using correction fluid or tape. Rearranging material would mean retyping the entire text.
• Reading books would entail reading books, not electronic copies of books.

Life without a computer would mean this website would not be here.

* Before computers, people would often share hobby information through apas, or amateur press associations. This was one way that up-to-date information was shared, along with amateur magazines and professional publications. Instead of Wikipedia, you would consult your home encyclopedia, or look up information at the library.

This would also be known as a wonderful adventure about getting to know how we used to live.

But other than that, a few hundred million deaths would occour, no one would have any money, we would be MUCH fitter, all benefits in my mind!

Computers did not exist for most of the history of the world. They have only made things easier. Without a computer if you wanted information you went to the library, looked up things in a subject catalog, go to the author card, and go into the stacks to find a book. You would use a typewriter for typing something. If you wanted to buy something you went to the store or if you wanted to play a game you bought the game. This is just a few ways it would be different.
