The improvements in computer technology have grown by leaps in bounds in recent years. One big improvement has been the change from the floppy disk to the CD ROM. Floppy disks were large and really did not hold a lot of data. On the other hand a CD ROM is an internal or external drive that plays all types of CDs making it more versatile. CDs also hold a lot more information then a floppy disk did.

Can CD-r drive be used as a floppy drive?

Data can be copied to CDs (Compact Discs) which are writable/rewritable and need a CD/DVD burner to write data. The difference between a floppy and CD is that floppy is a magnetics media and CD an optical media (read/write happens with help of a laser light). - Neeraj Sharma
