There are more than three, but I'll try and pick the three most important - assuming cost is irrelevant.

A good CPU

SSDs in RAID 0 configuration (the more the better up to certain point)

Eliminate ALL bottlenecks (generally addressed with a good motherboard)

Of course, as I said there are more than three, and if you're planning on some hardcore gaming, a good GPU is definitely up there, but those three are what's going to give you all round performance (along with some RAM, of course :P)
