How can you use a built-in webcam to make movies on Windows Movie Maker?

Windows Movie Maker's Import Video does not support importing video from a web camera or analog video source such as a VCR. To use video from your web camera, you can use the software that comes with the camera to record the video to your computer. Then you can import it into the program.

∙ 14y agoI'm pretty sure the Capture Video (WMM v2.1) and Import Video from DV Camera (WMM v2.6) options only allow importation from removable devices (camera, camcorder), but I am not positive.
Try using the function to access the built-in web cam. Windows Movie Maker will let you know whether or not it can capture the video. If it is unable to, I suggest saving your web-cam video in a format compatible with WMM:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
