In mixtures, the individual pure components can be separated - it may be difficult but it can be done.

You have to stop and think about it. What kinds of materials are involved? If it is a pure component, it should only have one material/component.

A mixture is composed of two or more substances that are combined mechanically (as opposed to chemically). A pure substance will remain as it is no matter how fine it is divided. It's composed of "all the same thing" throughout its volume.

Note that the mixture can be two or more pure substances or two or more chemical compounds. A couple of examples are air, which is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen (and some other things), and something like, say, sand and sawdust. The former is a mixture of pure substances or elements, while the latter is a mixture of two substances that are "complex molecules" of different substances.
