I am 100 percent sure that lightning comes from the clouds. The bottom part of the clouds are sometimes negatively charged and when they get near high objects (usually trees or tall buildings) they release all the negative charged atoms as plasma.

How does lightning strike from the ground up?

Lightning can appear to strike from the ground up due to a phenomenon called a "positive lightning strike." This occurs when a positive charge builds up on the ground, attracting the negatively charged lightning bolt. The bolt then appears to travel upward from the ground to the cloud.

Can lightning come from the ground, or does it only originate from the sky?

Lightning can come from the ground as well as from the sky. It can occur when a discharge of electricity happens between a cloud and the ground, or between two clouds.

What is the Weakest lightning bolt?

It's challenging to quantify the weakest lightning bolt, as lightning bolts can vary greatly in intensity. However, a "stepped leader" is one of the initial stages of lightning formation and could be considered one of the weakest forms of lightning discharge.

What is the difference between sheet lightning and a lightning bolt?

Sheet lightning is when a lightning bolt is obscured by clouds and only illuminates the cloud layer, creating a diffuse light. A lightning bolt is the visible discharge of electricity between clouds or between a cloud and the ground, typically following a distinct path.

Does lightning travel from the sky to the ground or the ground to the sky?

Lightning typically travels from the sky to the ground. It is initiated by a downward-moving stepped leader from the cloud that is met by an upward-moving streamer from the ground, creating the visible lightning bolt.

When a lightning bolt transfers a charge of 17 coulombs when it strikes the ground. How many electrons does the lightning bolt transfer as it strikes the ground?

If a lightening bolt transfers twenty three coulombs to earth how many electrons are transferred?

Why can't a person hold a lightning bolt?

A person cannot hold a lightning bolt because it has extremely high electrical voltage and current, which can cause serious injury or death. Lightning seeks the path of least resistance to the ground, and if a person were to try to hold a lightning bolt, it would travel through their body to reach the ground, resulting in electrocution.

Who is the lightning bolt in the olympics?

"Lightning Bolt" is the nickname for Usain Bolt

What is the first stage of lightning bolt?

The first stage of a lightning bolt is the development of a stepped leader, which is a channel of charged particles that descends from the cloud towards the ground. This process is triggered by the buildup of electric potential between the cloud and the ground.

Can a lightning bolt provide electricity?

Yes, a lightning bolt can provide electricity because a lightning bolt is electricity.

What is the Latin word for lightning bolt?
