No, they are really quite different.

  1. Renewable means something is still there after it has been used, like sunshine or wind.
  2. Renewable also means that the something will come back, like water, which we use, and make dirty, and it finds its way back into rivers and oceans and then up into clouds, clean again, to fall into our dams.
  3. Also renewable are things that will grow quickly, like plantation timber, or food crops, which we consume, but we can grow them again quickly enough for us.

Non-renewable is material that is used up and finished, and won't come back or regrow, or re-make itself.

  1. Coal and other fossil fuels like oil and natural gas were all formed millions of years ago and will take more millions of years to produce again.
  2. Gold, Silver, diamonds and other minerals also take millions of years to be laid down.
