This might seem like a million years ago, and it was before climate change became such a big issue, but in January of 1976. I was skiing at Mt Tremblant. And I recall that the air temperature was −52°F and the windchill at the top of the mountain where the wind was ferocious, was 96 below zero. Riding up the chair lift was the worst; forget about detachable quads. This was a slow mover.
I was a dumb college student from the Jersey Shore and was up there for 3 weeks with a few dozen students from Roanoke College taking a one-credit psychology class, living in slopeside chalets at a small mountain in the Laurentian Mountains. One day a group of us thought it'd be fun to ski at a more challenging mountain, so we drove north to Mt. Tremblant and froze our cookies off. Something to tell the grandkids, if I ever have any.
