France has a mixed economy. France has been privatizing a lot of its industries. Air France is an example. Although France exercises great control of its economy, the public sector side is gaining more ground. With that said, it would appear that the term "mixed economy" best describes the economy of France.

It is a mystery as there about 20 million + active workers and they all have their own version of how it should work. Discipline is personal and not collective which adds to the ills but they are very resilient and innovative.

The government structure is similar to the European Commission for which one could be forgiven that it was influenced by the French. Unelected officials can hold the highest positions in the government and are therefore not reportable.
